APHASIA INTENSIVE THERAPY
Looking to make meaningful progress with your communication after stroke? Intensive aphasia therapy offers a higher frequency of speech and language therapy over a 6 week period, helping to maximise opportunities for practice and recovery.

Programmes are individually tailored and framed around your goals. The intensive programme is typically structured as 1.5 hours daily, 4 days a week for 6 weeks to optimise recovery. This intensity is supported by the research evidence in aphasia treatment and can support people to make meaningful change.

Intensive therapy is suitable for people following discharge from hospital, however research shows people can still make improvements several years after their stroke.

Due to the intensity of the input this programme is best suited for people who do not experience significant tiredness after activity and who are motivated. An ability to participate in therapy activities outside of 1:1 sessions either independently or with a supportive family member or friend is also advantageous in achieving maximum recovery.

The programme can be delivered in your home, in the clinic setting or via telehealth. Research in aphasia and telehealth shows this is as effective as in person therapy and can help to minimise the cost of treatment.
