At AK Speech Therapy, we operate as a mobile service, with appointments typically held in your home or care facility.

If your needs can be effectively met via telehealth, we also offer video call appointments via Microsoft Teams.

For those who prefer not to meet at home or are travelling from outside Auckland, AK Speech Therapy has access to clinic space in Takapuna, Mount Eden and Mount Wellington.

Swallowing Difficulties

Dysphagia – Dysphagia is the medical term for swallowing difficulties. AK Speech Therapy provides comprehensive swallowing assessments and therapy to improve swallowing function.

Communication Difficulties

Aphasia – A condition that affects the ability to understand and use language, often causing word-finding difficulties.
Apraxia – A speech disorder where the brain has trouble sending the correct messages to the mouth, making speech difficult.
Dysarthria – A condition that causes slurred or unclear speech due to muscle weakness in the mouth.
Cognitive-Communication Difficulties – Challenges with memory, attention, or problem-solving that affect communication.
Other Communication Support
We also provide support for:

  • Developing social skills.
  • Managing communication challenges related to behaviours.
Assessment and Therapy
A comprehensive communication assessment will evaluate language comprehension, speaking abilities, reading, and writing. We provide tailored strategies to support communication, along with a personalised therapy plan to help you achieve your goals.

What We Don't Offer
AK Speech Therapy currently focuses on adult therapy and does not provide services for children. For paediatric speech therapy, please visit the NZSTA website to find a suitable provider.

Prices include GST

Session at your home:

An initial 1-hour assessment is $300. A written report is an additional $100.

Home based follow-up and therapy sessions start from $125 for 30 minutes to $165 for 1 hour.

Sessions at your home incur an additional travel fee. Request a ​copy of current pricing and policies for further information on the ​travel fee.

Session in a clinic room:

An initial 50 minute assessment is $350. A written report is an additional $100.

A 50 minute therapy session is $215.

Session via Microsoft Teams

An initial 1 hour assessment is $300. A written report is an additional $100. Due to the nature of the assessment it is typically preferred to complete the initial assessment face to face.

Follow-up and therapy sessions start from $125 for 30 minutes to $165 for 1 hour. Research shows that therapy via ​video call can be as effective as face to face therapy.

Communication skills feedback service:

Basic feedback - Max 2 minute video with written feedback report $60

Detailed feedback - Max 10 minute video with detailed written feedback report $155

Advanced feedback - 1 hour 1:1 session with detailed written feedback report $370 (plus travel fee depending on location or via Microsoft Teams)
